Upper School Concentrations

Academic Concentrations
Upper School Concentrations allow students to turn a serious interest into a sustained academic and experiential pathway. Through a defined sequence of courses and applied work—which may include projects, competitions, research, or other culminating experiences—students develop deeper knowledge while producing meaningful evidence of their initiative, growth, and achievement.
Students who complete a concentration earn a formal designation on their BWL diploma. Colleges receive a Concentration Profile with the student’s counselor recommendation, providing additional context about the program’s requirements, relevant coursework, and the depth of the student’s work.
The value of a concentration extends beyond the designation itself. It helps students connect their interests across several years, develop greater intellect, direction and confidence, and present colleges with a clearer, more coherent picture of what they have pursued and accomplished at BWL.
