Open Street
The DOT has designated 77th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues as an Open Street for BWL through the NYC Open Streets Program.
This initiative will give our students much-needed space for outdoor play and learning.
Barricades will be set up across 77th Street at 2nd and 3rd Avenues on school days from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Some vehicles, including those used for emergency purposes, will still have access to the street.
We hope that there will be minimal disruption to our neighbors on E. 77th Street.
- Vehicles may remain parked on both sides of the street.
- We will maintain a lane for necessary vehicle traffic including:
- Emergency vehicles
- Access-A-Ride and other vehicles that provide disability access
- Ride-share and for-hire vehicles requiring access for medical purposes
- Pre-approved business deliveries
