Mentor Anthology Submission Guidelines

  • Mentor accepts all writing submissions. While we do accept essay, fiction and non-fiction submissions, Mentor will predominately publish poetry with rare exceptions. Mentor is a print Anthology for students that participate in the Global Poetry Festival run by the Global Poetry Consortium. While submissions should consider that 17-18 year olds will be the predominate audience, there is no restriction on subject matter and the anthology will have a global circulation.

  • Submissions are free. After publication two poets will be chosen from the Anthology by a group of Honors Poetry students to participate in the Global Poetry Festival during National Poetry Month. Selected poets will receive an honorarium of two thousand dollars for participation in the Global Poetry Festival.

  • Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, but please withdraw your poem if it has been accepted by another publication.

  • Submit just one previously unpublished poem on submittable.

  • Acceptable file types are .rft, .doc or .docx

  • Allow up to one month for a response before inquiring as to acceptance status.

  • If your poem is accepted we will notify you. Please include a bio in submittable.

  • We plan to publish mid January or early February and will email each published author a copy of the anthology.

  • Thank you for understanding that time does not permit us to make changes to poems that we have accepted.

  • We receive first publication rights, after which time you are free to publish your work elsewhere.
