Statement of Social Responsibility

Dear Members of the BWL Community,

As we move into a school year that will undoubtedly be different from any other, we want to make sure that our entire community is informed and safe. Therefore we are requiring that each member of our community sign and commit to a Statement of Social Responsibility. Please familiarize yourself with the below information and sign the document before returning to BWL.

Based on CDC guidelines, BWL will close for two weeks if two or more total COVID-19 cases are identified among in-person community members. If there is one COVID-19 positive case identified, all individuals who have come in contact with the positive individual will be required to quarantine for 14 days. If there is one case, BWL will remain open and all individuals who came in contact with the COVID-19 positive individual will be required to self quarantine for 14 days.

Transmission of the virus depends on the safety and responsibility of our community. It is up to each individual to ensure that BWL remains open and virus free. Each individual's actions will ultimately determine the longevity of BWL's in-person learning. To ensure that BWL remains open, every individual's integrity and civility will be required to ensure the safety of the whole.

We all are continually reminded that the risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic can only be mitigated - even with careful planning and implementing extensive safety protocols - but not completely eliminated. Our reopening plan addresses the priority of safety for students, faculty and staff in the face of this risk. Our risk mitigation strategies, including adherence to small cohorts in each classroom, seek to reduce the risks to the greatest extent possible while providing to our students our customary excellent academic experience and beneficial social interaction.

Before returning to school each member of our community is expected to sign the Statement of Social Responsibility.

  • I will let division directors know, immediately, if I, my student, or anyone in my household has traveled outside of the U.S within two weeks of starting school, or at any time thereafter. • I will let division directors know if I have traveled to any of the above states but have not completed the state required 14 day quarantine.

  • If my child needs to go home, I will pick up my child within 1 hour and not more than 2 hours from the time of notification.

  • I will be sure to minimize the items my child, or I, bring to school.

  • I will not share food, supplies, and other items.

  • I will report my symptoms each morning using RUVNA.

  • I will allow my temperature to be taken before entering BWL.

  • I understand that I may be sent home upon arrival, at BWL’s discretion, if temperature or symptoms warrant.

  • I understand that BWL might ask me to show a negative COVID-19 test before returning to BWL.

If a student has not complied with any of the COVID-19 protocols or rules set out above or in BWL’s Handbook, the student’s family will be contacted and the student will be moved to remote learning after a discussion with parents. Thereafter, two weeks of quarantine will be required if a student is identified as not having followed BWL’s social distance rules inside or outside of BWL.
