BWL Holiday Arts Festival Delights Community

Jessica Lichtenstein

As a part of this year's holiday festivities, the school celebrated the first BWL Holiday Arts Festival, a school-wide event including all faculty, staff and students, showcasing the school community and its many talented members.

Highlights included performances by the BWL a cappella groups, the Beaux Ties and the MsChords, poetry readings, a song performed by the senior class, and a display of work from the Visual Arts Department. Faculty members sang a special version of the holiday classic "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" and, in the spirit of the season, students spoke about their most current community service projects. The festival even included a surprise performance by Broadway star Kerry Butler, from the cast of Hairspray--leading a song with the students who performed in the school's production last year.

Continuing a tradition from holiday pageants throughout the school's history, the show concluded with an enthusiastic rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas, with each student singing the line associated with the grade in which they are enrolled. From all of us at BWL, we wish you a wonderful holiday season and all the best in the new year!
