Welcome to Kindergarten at Birch Wathen Lenox!

Kindergarten at BWL is where children begin to see themselves as capable learners, thoughtful classmates, and confident members of a school community. Our teachers combine warmth with expert early-childhood instruction, helping children build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, classroom habits, curiosity, and independence.

In a right-sized K–12 environment, young children are known early and supported closely. They learn in classrooms where discovery has purpose, where academic foundations are taught with care, and where each child begins to feel at home in the life of the school.

The best way to understand Kindergarten at BWL is to see it in motion: children asking questions, practicing new skills, working with teachers who know them well, and beginning to experience school as a place of confidence, friendship, and joy.

All visits require advance registration through the Ravenna Hub.

Admissions Events

Apply for Kindergarten

We are thrilled to partner with families as they take this important step in their child’s educational journey.

At Birch Wathen Lenox, every application is the beginning of a relationship built on trust, shared values, and the promise of helping your child flourish. Applications are managed seamlessly through Ravenna Hub, where you can submit all required documents and schedule admissions appointments with ease. We would be honored to receive your child’s application and look forward to getting to know your family.

Note that the deadline for applying for Early Notification is Friday, November 20, 2026, and for Regular Admissions is Friday, January 8, 2027.  Late applications will be considered depending on available space in your child’s grade.

Choose the Application Path That’s Right for Your Family

BWL offers two application options. Both provide the same thoughtful, individualized admissions experience and use the same admissions criteria.

Early Notification
For families for whom BWL is their first choice

Early Notification offers families who can already envision their child thriving in BWL’s warm, close-knit community the opportunity to receive a decision in December. It is available to any family.

An offer of admission through Early Notification is binding, and families must be prepared to enroll without financial aid.

Regular Notification
For families who would like more time and flexibility

Regular Notification allows families to complete a traditional thorough admissions process before making a final school choice. Families consider offers from multiple schools, and those who require financial aid apply through the regular process.

Finding the Right Fit
NOTE: We understand that a family’s thinking may evolve as it gets to know BWL. Families may switch between Early and Regular Notification by the published Early Notification deadline.
