Go Beyond the Classroom
Learning at BWL extends far beyond the classroom. Our innovative Internship and Job Shadowing Program connects classroom learning with real-world experience, giving Upper School students meaningful opportunities to explore professional environments, discover potential career paths, and begin imagining where their interests and talents might take them.
Our dedicated Internship and Partnership Coordinator works closely with students to seek out tailored opportunities that align with their individual interests and aspirations. With personalized guidance and support, students are introduced to professional settings while learning to navigate what may be their first experiences in the working world. This individualized approach reflects a hallmark of the BWL experience: knowing our students well and connecting them with experiences that are meaningful to them.
Through internships and job shadowing, students gain firsthand exposure to a range of industries and workplaces while developing valuable professional skills, learning to communicate and engage in new environments, and building meaningful relationships beyond the School community.

These experiences are as much about personal growth as they are about career exploration. Students develop confidence, independence, and perspective while gaining a clearer understanding of their own strengths and aspirations. From finance and law to medicine, media, technology, the arts, and beyond, students can experience a wide range of professional fields firsthand.
Whether pursuing a long-standing passion or discovering an entirely new possibility, students begin making connections between what they learn at BWL and the world they will enter after graduation.
It’s a natural extension of BWL’s approach of giving students the guidance, experiences, and confidence to take their first steps toward the future with purpose.

Parents, alumni, and friends of the School help expand the range of experiences available to students by welcoming them into their workplaces, sharing their professional expertise, and opening doors to new possibilities.
These connections give students the chance to see careers in action, learn directly from professionals in the field, and gain an authentic understanding of what different professions and workplaces are really like. By stepping into these environments, students can ask questions, observe professionals at work, and experience firsthand the many ways that interests developed in the classroom can translate into careers.
Whether shadowing a professional or taking part in a more immersive internship experience, students gain a valuable look into the world beyond BWL, allowing them to explore possibilities well before college.

By welcoming a student into your workplace, you can offer a firsthand look at your profession, introduce them to new possibilities, and help make their early exploration of the professional world meaningful and memorable.
