10th Grade College Counseling Experience

Charting the Path Forward

10th grade is all about strategy and momentum!

Students deepen their academic foundations, explore electives, and discover new opportunities to grow both inside and outside the classroom. It’s a year for building confidence, strengthening passions, and staying open to fresh possibilities—all while taking important early steps toward the college process.

Families are also invited to engage in workshops and conversations that provide clarity and direction, ensuring everyone feels supported and prepared for what’s ahead.

What Happens in 10th Grade

Expanding Horizons

10th grade is a time to stretch and grow. Students begin to make choices that reflect their individual interests—whether through electives, leadership roles, or new extracurricular adventures—while continuing to strengthen the skills that will carry them into the next stage of the college process.

Students also take important next steps with the PSAT 10 and Pre-ACT exams, and families stay engaged through signature events like "What’s Next? Overview of the College Journey," and our ongoing Financial Aid Workshops.

Advice for 10th Grade Students

10th graders are encouraged to continue developing strong academic habits and enroll in an elective or two. This is also an excellent time for students to build on existing passions they enjoy, while staying open to discovering new interests and opportunities.

It's also important to think about summer plans—whether that means pursuing academic enrichment, engaging in community service, exploring internships, or diving into a personal project. Each choice not only fosters growth but also helps students discover what excites and motivates them most.

Guidance that Builds

Confidence

“I was really nervous about standardized testing since I’ve never considered myself a strong tester. Taking the PSAT 10 and Pre-ACT at school, in a familiar environment, helped me feel much more comfortable—and I actually did a lot better than I expected. The College Office counselors have been amazing! They're approachable, kind, and always make me feel at ease when I have a question. And they always have chocolate!

I’m already looking forward to the college trip next year, and I feel more confident (and so thankful) knowing I’ll have their support every step of the way.”
