Meet Mr. Jabbar, BWL Security Guard

By Tori A. ’26, Senior Communications Intern
You might recognize his smiling face or the cool shades. If you've been in the BWL lobby in the afternoon, you definitely know Mr. Jabbar Creer. Kids love to pepper him with silly questions and tease him on their way out of the building, and he takes it all with a smile. We interviewed him, so you can really get to know the man behind the desk!
Where are you from?
Jabbar: I was born and raised in New York. I grew up in Bushwick in Brooklyn.
How did you begin working in education?
Jabbar: I kinda just fell into it. I was working for a security company that transferred me to a Muslim private school. Before Birch, I worked at Al-Noor School and Al-Madinah School.
What do you do for fun outside of work?
Jabbar: I like sports. I like watching all kinds of sports: baseball, basketball, football, boxing, MMA, you name it. My teams are the Yankees, the 49ers, and the Brooklyn Nets, though I used to be a Knicks fan.
What do you like most about working at Birch Wathen Lenox?
Jabbar: The students, of course. Kids are really interesting, especially the little ones. Some are surprisingly really self-aware.
What was your favorite subject in school?
Jabbar: I loved chemistry because I was fascinated by the big reactions.
