Join Our Team: BWL Employment Opportunities

The Birch Wathen Lenox School is a traditional co-educational independent college preparatory school that individualizes curriculums based on student need. We are located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and our students come from Long Island, New Jersey, Westchester and the boroughs of New York City.

Families are drawn to BWL by our warm, nurturing community and its commitment to excellent academics, small class sizes and rigor. It is our mission to individualize curriculum, while upholding the values that are expressed in our motto: Integrity, Loyalty, Civility. We incorporate this motto into our teaching and extracurricular life throughout the K through 12th Grade experience. Birch Wathen Lenox students are expected to learn the value of civic responsibility. Our goal is to offer many opportunities for students to work with, and learn from, different local and global organizations through service learning projects. Student preparation, action, and reflection lead to an enriched learning experience.

For full-time employees, The Birch Wathen Lenox School offers an attractive benefits package and salary commensurate with experience. All staff members are provided additional resources and opportunities including dedicated workspace, laptop computer, email, high-speed Internet access, and generous allocation of funds dedicated to professional development. We support our faculty’s continued education by covering the cost of relevant workshops and conferences available nationwide as well as providing in-house teaching and learning mentorship. Faculty members are also eligible to receive a stipend toward the cost of advanced degrees, and after three years are also encouraged to apply for a summer travel grant. Our school is committed to offering a supportive, collegial environment to all full-time employees.

As an equal opportunity employer, we hire without consideration to race, religion, creed, color, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, veteran status, disability, or any other category protected by applicable law. We are committed to an inclusive school culture and to recruiting and hiring faculty of diverse backgrounds and experience.
