Henry D. Owen ’37, Renowned Diplomat and Global Economist, Dies at 91
Henry D. Owen (Birch Wathen ’37, Harvard ’41) an influential diplomat who helped institutionalize global economic summitry in the 1970s, died on November 5th in Washington. Owen was considered an intellectual framer of the elite round table known as the Trilateral Commission, and he worked in the State Department as an economic counselor specializing in international affairs under four presidents between 1946 and 1968.
